My name is Michael Wilson.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Politics from Midland University. History has long been my passion. For the better part of my life I have been fascinated by the lessons that we are able to learn from our past.
The thing I find most intriguing about the study of history is that there is a place for everyone. It crosses borders, encompasses varying dialects and genres, and, of course, spans the length of time.
But, most importantly, it provides us answers to our most pressing questions. We just have to look in all the right places.
I enjoy the study of history because I like finding these answers — and I launched this blog because I wanted the opportunity to share those with as many people as I can.
As mentioned, history covers a wide array of topics. However, I am most interested in American political history. During my third year of my undergraduate work I authored my thesis paper where I dove into the Watergate Scandal.
One thing you should know about me is that I have a passion for politics. When we truly pay attention to our past we know that our greatest moments have come when the masses have risen. So, it truly shakes me to my core to know that nearly have of the voting population fails to vote each cycle.
I set out to try and determine why voter apathy plagues our nation. Certainly, there are multiple factors to consider. But, it is of my opinion that among the chief factors sits Nixon Administration.
I will be publishing that paper to this site soon!
On a more personal level — I consider myself to be a regular guy. When I’m not reading the news or researching for this blog I spend my time watching sports. Namely, I am a Husker football fan. Like history, it’s not always easy to absorb. But, we have to stick with what we love.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the blogs.
